Simply Sandwich Bread

Letās Get One Thing Straight⦠This Aināt Your Average Recipe Blog š
I donāt believe in recipe websites that make you scroll through a novel about someoneās great auntās potluck before you find the actual recipe. Thatās just annoying. So here, the recipe alwaysĀ comes first - no fluff, no fuss, no 37 pop-ups in your face. Youāre welcome. š
Oh... and you wonāt find perfectly styled, magazine-worthy food pics here either. Iām a busy mom, which means I barely have time to clean my kitchen after I cook - let alone before, just to stage the āperfect shot.ā What you see is what you get. Real food, real mess, real life.
If you doĀ want the story, tips, or why I swap certain ingredients, thatās all hanging out at the bottom like the chill friend who doesnāt need to be the center of attention.
Mmkay I've already said too much...here's your recipe! ā¬ļø

Ingredients
2 cups warm water
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp *avocado oil
4-5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
*Ingredient swap option, check out the notes below for more info
Instructions:
Combine water, sugar, and yeast in a stand mixer fitted with a bread hook attachment. Let that sit for 5 or so minutes until bubbly.
Add in the salt, avocado oil, and only *4 cups of flour to start.
Mix it with the mixer until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. If it's still sticking...add ONLY 1/4-1/2 cup of flour at a time. Wait until it's fully incorporated before adding more. (You don't want to end up using too much flour.)
Take it out of the bowl and knead it on a lightly floured surface for a couple of minutes. I recommend doing a windowpane test to make sure itās ready. If not, knead it some more and test again.Ā
Place it in a bowl and cover with a tea towel and let it rise for 45 minutes or doubled in size.
Grease 2 loaf pans or 1 long pan. Pound down the dough in the bowl, then turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into your pan(s).
Cover with a tea towel and let it rise for 1 hour or just to the top of the pan.
Bake at 375 for 25-35 minutes (internal temp of 200 within a few seconds of inserting the thermometer).Ā
Once it's done baking remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then remove it from the pan.
Let it cool ALL the way before slicingā¦3+ hours.Ā (Probably THE most important step lol....I know it's tempting but just wait!!)
*OptionalĀ to run a stick of butter over the top once you take it out of the oven. This will give the crust a glossy finish and soften it.
Notes
Avocado oilĀ - you can totally use olive oil. We switched everything oil based in our house for avocado oil and love the Chosen FoodsĀ brand. PS -Ā buy it at Costco you get a 2-liter bottle for ~$25!!
Yeast
You can use ANY instant/rapid rise yeast. I just recently happened to switch to the Member's Mark brand, away from the Red Star brand and I like the quaility and consistency better! I used Red Star for yearssss. But this yeast from Sam's Club changed the game for my bread.
